Puffco Proxy Guide: Kits, Accessories, and How to Build Your Setup

In this bag

The Puffco Proxy is a modular concentrate vaporizer. One base powers everything. You choose what sits on top of it, and that choice changes how the device hits, how portable it is, and what your sessions look like day to day.

Puffco currently sells the Proxy in two kit configurations: the Core Kit and the Pipe Kit. Both use the same Bluetooth-enabled Proxy base and the same Proxy 3D Chamber. The difference is the glass or attachment that comes with it. Once you own the base, you can swap between configurations whenever you want by picking up additional pieces from the Proxy Collection.

This guide covers which Proxy kit to start with, what each piece in the collection actually does to your experience, and where the Proxy fits if you’re also looking at the Pivot or Peak.

Proxy Core Kit

The Core Kit is the glass-free option. It replaces the traditional glass pipe with an anodized aluminum cup and silicone mouthpiece. The vapor path is shorter and more direct, which produces denser, heavier draws. Three ceramic terp pearls are included, and the impact airpath spins them during your draw to spread concentrate across the heated chamber walls.

This is the kit for portability. Nothing breakable, small enough to pocket, and the aluminum cup stays cool because the airpath never touches it. The trade-off is that vapor runs warmer with no glass or water to cool it.

Proxy Pipe Kit

The Pipe Kit includes a frosted borosilicate glass pipe in a Sherlock-style shape. The longer vapor path cools your draw before it reaches you, producing smoother hits than the Core. The glass sits upright on its own, and the base slides in and locks.

This is the kit for home sessions and flavor. The glass adds cooling distance that the Core doesn’t have, and the Sherlock shape is comfortable to hold for longer sessions. The trade-off is that glass is fragile. You’re not pocketing this one.

Which Kit to Start With

If you want one device that goes everywhere, start with the Proxy Core Kit. If you want the best flavor and plan to use it mostly at home, start with the Proxy Pipe Kit. In either case, you’re buying into the same platform. The base is the same. You can always add the other configuration later.

For existing Proxy owners who want to add the Core setup, the Core Accessory Kit is available for $50 USD and includes the cup, mouthpiece, and terp pearls without a second base.

Choosing a Proxy Kit

Expanding Your Setup: The Proxy Collection

The Proxy base works with every piece in the Proxy Collection. Each one changes how the device draws, cools, and fits into your routine.

Add This What Changes Pick This If
Proxy Pipe (included with Pipe Kit) Longer dry vapor path through frosted borosilicate glass. Cooler, smoother draws than the Core. You want a comfortable home session piece with no water to deal with.
Proxy Core Short, direct airpath through aluminum and silicone. Dense, warm, heavy draws with terp pearl spin. You already own the Pipe Kit and want a pocketable travel setup on the same base.
Proxy Bub  Adds water filtration. Cooler and smoother than the Pipe, with a stable upright stance. You want the smoothest possible draw without stepping up to a full-size rig.
Proxy Wizard  Extended spiral glass dry pipe. More cooling distance than the stock Pipe. Gandalf-style shape. You like dry draws but want them cooler and longer than the Sherlock delivers.
Third-Party Proxy Glass Artisan bubblers, rigs, and custom pieces via 14mm male adapters. You want something nobody else has.

Is the Proxy the Right Puffco for You?

The Proxy is one of three Puffco device families. Here’s how they compare at a high level:

The Pivot is Puffco’s pen-style portable. It’s smaller, more discreet, and cheaper, but has a smaller chamber, no app control, and less vapor output. It’s for quick, low-key sessions.

The Peak / Peak Pro is Puffco’s home e-rig with a built-in water bubbler, larger chamber, and longer battery life. It produces the largest clouds and smoothest vapor in the lineup, but it’s not as portable as the Proxy.

The Proxy sits between them. It’s more powerful than the Pivot, more portable than the Peak, and the only one that’s modular. If you want one base that adapts to different situations, the Proxy is the device that does that. No other Puffco product lets you swap between glass, water filtration, dry pipes, and a pocket-ready aluminum setup on the same platform.

FAQs

Is the Puffco Proxy worth buying?

If you want a concentrate vaporizer that adapts to how you use it, yes. The modular design means you’re not locked into one setup. Start with the Core Kit or Pipe Kit and add pieces as your preferences change. The 3D Chamber heats evenly, the app adds precise control, and the 2-year warranty on the base is the longest Puffco offers on any current device.

What is better, Puffco Peak or Proxy?

They’re built for different situations. The Peak and Peak Pro are home e-rigs with built-in water filtration, larger chambers, and about 30 sessions per charge. The Proxy is portable and modular, with about 15 sessions per charge and the ability to swap between glass, dry pipes, water pieces, and a pocket-ready aluminum setup. If you want one device that stays on a desk, the Peak. If you want one that moves with you and changes shape, the Proxy.

Is the Puffco Proxy for beginners?

Yes. Single-button operation, four color-coded heat settings, and a 25-second heat-up time make it straightforward to use out of the box. The Puffco Connect app adds deeper customization when you’re ready for it, but it’s not required. Load, press, draw.

What are the disadvantages of a Proxy?

The battery is integrated and not replaceable, so the device has a finite lifespan tied to battery health. At 15 sessions per charge, heavy users will recharge daily. The 3D Chamber is a consumable part that needs replacement every few months depending on use. Glass pieces are sold separately from the Core Kit and not included with the base alone. And unlike the Peak Pro, the Proxy has no wireless charging and no 3DXL Chamber option.

Can you use dry herb in the Puffco Proxy?

Not with the standard setup. The Proxy is designed for concentrates. However, the Proxy Flower Bowl converts any Proxy glass piece into a dry herb setup. Drop it into the Pipe, Bub, or Wizard and you can use flower through the same base.

Can you use terp pearls in a Puffco Proxy?

Yes. The Core Kit includes three 4mm ceramic terp pearls, and the impact airpath is designed to spin them during your draw. Puffco recommends pearls between 3mm and 5mm, with 4mm being ideal. Terp pearls are optional but noticeably improve vapor production and flavor by spreading concentrate across more of the heated chamber surface.

Which type of Proxy is best?

It depends on how you plan to use it. The Core Kit is best for portability and durability, with no glass to break. The Pipe Kit is best for home sessions where smoother, cooled draws matter more. Both use the same base and 3D Chamber, so the difference is the vapor path, not the engine. You can own both configurations and swap between them.

Is the Puffco Proxy a bubbler?

No. The base unit is a dry concentrate vaporizer. The included glass (Pipe Kit) and aluminum cup (Core Kit) are both dry vapor paths. To add water filtration, pick up the Proxy Bub or the Proxy Wizard from the Proxy Collection. Both snap onto the same base.

How long will a Puffco Proxy last?

The 1680mAh battery delivers roughly 15 sessions per charge, with USB-C charging taking about 90 minutes. Long-term, the device lifespan depends on battery health and maintenance. The 3D Chamber should be cleaned regularly and replaced every few months with heavy use. Puffco covers the base and battery under a 2-year warranty for defects in materials and workmanship. Glass, chambers, and normal wear are not covered.
