The Tempest 2 contains 90 zirconia ball spheres that create a massive surface area for heat distribution throughout the thermal chamber. Unlike traditional vaporizers that heat herb directly, this ball-filled thermal system heats air as it passes through the zirconia matrix. Adjustable Bowl System for Every Session
The bowl size adjusts between three settings using the twist-lock screen system. Small setting holds 0.1g for microdosing, medium accommodates 0.15g for personal sessions, and large fits 0.2g for sharing or heavy use. The wider bowl design on version 2 provides more even heat distribution compared to the original Tempest. The screen locks securely in each position with enough wiggle room for easy adjustment, but stays locked during use.
Grade 5 Titanium Construction
The entire body uses Grade 5 titanium for maximum durability and heat resistance. Titanium handles the thermal stress from rapid heating cycles while remaining lightweight at just 46 grams. The anodized aluminum heat shield option weighs slightly more but provides excellent thermal protection. Both shield materials keep the device comfortable to handle even during back-to-back sessions.
Universal Heating Compatibility
The Tempest 2 works with compatible induction heaters, such as the Ispire Wand, YLL IH 3.0, and other devices that fit the 14mm diameter. The stainless steel induction sleeve transfers energy efficiently from induction heaters while maintaining compatibility with all torch types. Whether you prefer the ritual of torch heating or the consistency of induction, the device performs equally well with both heating methods.
Dual-Click Temperature System
The visual temperature gauge combines with dual audible clicks to indicate optimal heating. The sliding indicator changes position as the device heats, while click discs provide audio confirmation at two temperature points. First click indicates flavor-focused temperatures, second click signals full extraction readiness. This dual feedback system works with both torch and induction heating methods.

The v2 has a larger bowl with better heat distribution, a thicker induction sleeve for better heat retention, an improved ball screen that twist-locks, and an easier indicator assembly. It’s a genuine upgrade, not just a minor revision.
Will it work with my existing induction heater?
If it works with DynaVaps, it should work with the Tempest 2. Some older Ispire Wands have openings smaller than 14mm, so be sure to double-check your heater’s diameter.
Can I combust with this?
It’s harder to combust than with a DynaVap thanks to the convection heating, but yes, overheating is possible. Respect the clicks and visual indicator, especially when learning.
What's the best heating method?
Torch gives you more control and ritual. Induction gives you consistency and convenience. Most users start with the torch and add an IH later. Both work excellently.
How long do the balls last?
The zirconia balls should last for years with normal use. They’re user-replaceable if you want to experiment with different materials. Ruby retains more heat, quartz tastes cleaner, and SiC is the middle ground.
Is the case necessary?
Not necessary, but highly recommended. It lets you store the device while hot, protects it in pockets/bags, and includes a useful debowler. For $45, it solves several daily-use problems.
What about the Reload 3?
The Reload 3 is the perfect companion for the Tempest 2. Strong magnet for cooling, built-in debowler, storage compartments, and decapping rails. If you’re getting the Tempest, budget for the Reload too.
Why is there a wait time between bowls?
The thermal mass that gives great extraction also means heat retention. It needs 2-3 minutes to cool enough for the click discs to reset.
Can I use concentrates?
Technically possible with hemp fiber or a degummed hemp pad, but it’s designed for dry herb. The convection heating isn’t ideal for concentrates. Get a dedicated concentrate device instead.

Induction Heater Compatibility
The 14mm diameter works with most desktop induction heaters and portable units like the Ispire Wand. Older Wand models may need the opening widened to accommodate the stainless steel induction sleeve. The YLL v3 provides performance with proper heat retention timing.
